At Incawasi we firmly believe that to optimize our work with the children, a close cooperation with the family is necessary. We visit families regularly to get a better idea of their specific situation, and we offer help and consultation when needed.

Periodic meetings are also held in Incawasi with the mothers (most of our children are from female-headed families). These meetings facilitate communication between the institution and the mothers. We inform them concerning Incawasi’s work and projects, discuss the children’s conduct and grades, and carry out workshops with the mothers themselves (such as alphabetization courses and legal information about domestic violence). Above and beyond these specific activities, we offer legal advice and guidance in bureaucratic matters of all kinds.

RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER NGOs

Contact with other institutions and NGOs from Cajamarca is a vital part of our social work. We network with other organizations to improve our services, exchanging experiences and collaborating in various ways. In the past we have joined initiatives led by institutions such as NATS (Working children and teenagers), MIMDES (Minister of woman and Social development), ADECCA MUJER (Association against domestic violence), Chibolitos (NGO for working children), and various collaborations organized by the Local and Regional Governments. We are part of CEREPETI (Committee of prevention and eradication of Children’s work) and of Mesa de Concertacion, a collaboration between government and nonprofit organizations striving to end poverty.
